Genetic Alterations and Experiments.
You must be wondering about Ahura Mazda and his genetic enhancements, as well as Anghiari. Well, there is an explanation for this.
With this story being set in the future ( 3695 AD give or take a few years ) humans have made advancements in technology and different science fields. Genetics are something they had made a huge advancement in.
In 2004 it was possible to look at embryos to find out the genetic defects and possible risk. Also some private firms allowed you to choose the gender of your child. Now, in 3695 imagine this on a large scale. You can look at all the possible risks of genetic defects, you can choose the gender of your child, the eye color and almost anything else. It's kind of like having a custom model toy except it's a living thing.
Of course, people still say that's playing God and it's wrong. Many scientists in this field have been killed by extremists or religious fanatics. So much more experimenting was done in the shadows, and began to become dangerous. Dangerous enough to be banned by all United Nations countries and even whole planets.
Those experiments in secret were the cause of both Ahura Mazda and Anghiari's "mutations." In Ahura's case the only artificially enhanced his, but as he was a young child at the time he went through very painful changes. Several injections were given to him, to permanently alter his genes. Splicing and other things were involved as well.
Now Ahura has a very low tolerance for pain as a side effect, as well as losing a lot of his physical strength. Though he did gain better eyesight, speed, and a bit more endurance.
Anghiari was altered before she was born, and afterwards. Which is why she looks like a complete freak. By any standards, human or alien, these genetic alterations were outrageous and impossible to hide. It's also why Anghiari likes to make things perfect, and why she keeps most of her history to herself.
Because of all of those people who say that genetic
engineering is "evil" life is a living hell for any of those who are
unlucky enough to go through this process. One day I'll go into greater detail
about this, until then I set you up with this tidbit.
