Job Twenty-One:
Theme of the Dragon
Ahura sat cross-legged at the kitchen table reading the newspaper and drinking some coffee. It had been slow for a few days, and Raphael was complaining about odd aches and pains. The thief did not have the slightest idea what to do, so he let the dragon rest here at the house they had recently acquired.
Anghiari had been doing various jobs, and more importantly she had been collecting information on the mysterious organization. Today, however, she was still sleeping.
Since Sindri had left to return to her home, that left Ahura with no one but himself. He could peacefully plot the destruction of the Organization. He sipped his tea and turned the page carefully, there was nothing in the news about unfortunate deaths of important people, which either meant Anghiari was not doing her job or there was a massive cover up.
There was also theme music to life now, apparently. "Soooo..." he flipped the page again, "Die another day?"
*Oh, yes, I think it suits me!* Raphael said merrily, *After all, I have new limbs and everything.*
"What?" Ahura Mazda said, quickly throwing his paper down and setting his tea some place safe. He craned around to take a look at the dragon. He blinked a few extra times. "Growing pains then."
The dragon was smirking. He had grow in size over the weeks but he had also grown a sturdy set of wings combined with legs. He reminded Ahura of some sort of creature from a fantasy novel he had read a while ago, a type of weird glider. This was not what Ahura had expected at all, but it seemed like a very fitting growth.
"Holy Mary your spikes are huge."
*Aren't they lovely? I could kill someone with these!* He slither...walked up to the table and took a chair next to his bondmate. *So, you were plotting destruction.*
"Ah, yes, now you can actually help me destroy these bastards," the thief said cheerfully.
*I can't imagine they'd go down with a fight,* Raph said, eyeing the tea cup Ahura had set down. He tried to hold it in his claws, fumbling, and thankfully he did not drop it.
"Of course they won't that's the fun part," Anghiari said groggily as she came out of her room. She was dressed in her usual set of distracting underwear and t-shirt. "I got some interesting information on the forerunners of the Organization."
"Do sit down, since everyone's up, I'll make breakfast," Ahura said getting up quickly and heading towards the pot and pans. Anghiari watched curiously as she sat down in his spot. In all the months they had spent together he had never made breakfast, did this mean they were now in a long term relationship?
The tea cup wobbled unsteadily, *This hand thing is a bit more difficult than I thought it was.*
"Relax, you're trying to used the handle rather than hold the cup. Pretend the finger hold doesn't exist," the assassin offered her advice. "So," she had to ask, "What are we having for breakfast?"
"I thought pancakes, eggs, and bacon would be nice, and since I went shopping yesterday, we have everything we need," He said, pulling out the ingredients needed.
Raphael and Anghiari looked at each other. He was way too happy.
***
Ahura tapped his fingers as he read the information about Them.
The four major players of the Organization were members of four major business ventures known universally. Behind them were other people, stronger people who had organized various riots, smuggling rings, murders, executions and slaughters. Even the mafia had problems evading these influential people, and it was nearly impossible for a gang to have an influence on the city street.
Edvard Benedetto is the CEO of Pentech, the leading industry in scientific discoveries and medical cures for the use of humans and aliens alike. Secretly Edvard is part of the Organization and took part in the experiments of the genetic alters and the Chimera. He has enough bodyguards to make the leading government officials jealous. Getting to him is the key to this mission, but the others would probably be easier to shake down.
Rebecca Albertina the leader of the research at the University of The Eastern Alliance. She has major sway over politics not only because of her mental smarts, but her sexual sway as well. She's classified as the "sexiest" of the four members and some people suspect her of being some sort of vampire because of the experiments she preformed in the past. She's also a difficult target because of her sexual sway.
Richárd János is commonly called the "Chaotic Knight." People think he's a crusader for human rights, when he's the leader of the combat training for children, creating assassins for the Organization. His skills are formidable, though Anghiari could easily defeat him because of her advanced training.
Luka Amets the creator of the program for the genetic alters. Limited information, besides his appearance. He's a tall, thin, dark skinned red head who supposedly has an immunity to magic.
"All we need to do is kill the four major players, and we'll start the crumbling of the Organization," the assassin said cheerfully.
Ahura looked to his bondmate, "Are you sure you're willing to murder people to help us, Raphael?"
He snorted, *They broke you, destroyed everything you love, and now they're trying to kill you, the least I can do is ruin their lives.*
The thief hesitated for a moment, he never thought he would have to think about something this life changing.
He let a grin dance its way across his face, throwing caution to the wind. "Let's rock and roll."
