The Explanation on the Endings of the Gods' Names
You may have asked yourself why do they have Dai and Bukira tacked onto the ends of their names? This is your answer to why the names are structured that way.
Dai and Bukira are more like titles then anything else. Gods don't bother with marriage so if that was what you were originally thinking you were way off. At the creation of this particular world each god was given a title, but after years of decay the names were lost to the human race. Since the humans got confused on which god goes where they came up with a hierarchy of the heavens. This didn't go very well for several years, no one could agree on what to call the Goddess of Life in comparison to the Goddess of Fortune. Until, one fateful day a very obscure scholar came up with a simple system of using pieces of the old names.
En'dai for example was original name was far longer so they took out a good deal of it and tacked Dai on the end, meaning "Supreme Master." It's a very simple concept, and since you don't really have to know the lesser gods, Just remember that Bukira is the second highest rank.
