The Unforgivable Act
Skittles sat with a pile of books in front of him and Martia besides him. They had made it to the wonderful City of Lights, also known as Urdia. Thankfully, this was a city that granted immunity to anyone, criminal or not.
The inhabitants of the town were very knowledgeable, and promoted extreme non-violence. This was the home of all those who wished for any sort of unrestricted freedom. Do not get the idea that this city of great proportions had no laws or police force, it is just that people feared the police force.
Skittles threw the book on a second pile that was statically placed on the empty chair next to him. With an annoyed growl he grabbed another book, but before he could open it Martia interrupted.
*I think I can read this now.*
"Oh really?" Skittles leaned over and pointed to a line in the book that was placed in front of his bondmate. "What does this say?"
*The kind old man set the paper down in front of the hero. Confused and dazed the hero gave his mentor a helpless look...*
"Very good! You're learning pretty fast. I've never seen someone so eager to read," Skittles said with a wink.
*I bet you read better then me! I pale in com...comparison to you!*
"Mmm... Somehow I don't think so." He patted his bondmate on the head.
"Skittles!" Sprite's voice whispered with joy. "I found it!" As Skittles peered over his high tower of books Sprite was speed walking a thick and shaggy old book over to them.
Skittles had always wondered why very important books were always so worn if they were so important.
She dropped the book on to the table. With a panting sigh she sat down in the seat in front of Skittles. She pushed all the other books away so she could she her friends, and smiled. "The Book of Prophecies, Riddles, and other Godly Nonsense!"
*Is it really called that Sprite?*
"Oddly enough, Yes. It should have something about the Knight and the Battle Priestess in it, Skittles. Also it should explain what major hero is going to try and kill you."
"... Stop smiling..."
"Fine," she snickered as she opened up to the index. She ran her finger down each rows and after a while yelled "AHA!" Quickly she began to flip through the pages, and stopped about half way in the book. With a satisfied smug look she slid the book in front of Skittles, "Read."
Skittles did what he was told, disappointed he looked up, "I already know this."
Sprite blinked a few extra times. "What?"
"I already know this."
"But--" She snatched the book from him. Like quicksilver her face changed into something very unexplainable. She cursed quite loudly and slammed the book on the table. "This is a JIP."
Martia sat slightly stunned besides Skittles. *Well, we do have that fancy hotel.*
Sprite winced, "Speaking of that, who's paying for it?"
Skittles grinned, "Why you temple is, after all you do have their master card."
"Fine. Let's go grab the angecurs of terror and head for the hotel."
*Sounds like a great idea to me!*
"Whose side are you on anyway?" Skittles tapped his bondmate on the head, and stanched a book. "I need to check some things out before we go if you don't mind. Sprite, please take Martia back to the room for me, this may take a bit." He ambled off with a smile pile of books in his arms.
"Strange..." Sprite said as she picked up Martia.
*Very strange indeed.*
***
"Nerrrgh! He should have been back by now." Sprite had taken to painting her nails in Skittles absents. Food wrappings, magazines and other oddities were scattered around the room. Martia was sulking on Skittles bed as Fulmen and Taeda were running around the room fighting over a magazine.
*He's not near by, maybe we should go out and find him!*
"No, I don't think he wants to be found."
*That's nonsense!*
"If you had legs, wings or other appendages you could search from him yourself, but you don't, so you have to stay with me."
*...I think he might be coming.*
"Oh?" Sprite suddenly seemed to perk up.
Skittles slinked into the room, with his clothing slightly tattered. He stopped and stared at the mess made by the angecurs and slowly sunk to the floor.
Martia leapt from the bed and was closely followed by Sprite.
They didn't need to ask what had happened. Skittles simply stated, "It appears not all people in this town follow the rules."
"Are you--"
"I'm perfectly fine, it's nothing really."
Fulmen had made his way over, while Taeda avoided the group. Fulmen gently set his paw on Skittles hand. "You did give them a royal whipping didn't you?"
"You know that goes without saying."
Sprite snorted, "Men..."
*Guys! I think someone's coming down the hallway! They aren't friendly either!*
"How can you tell?" Skittles asked.
*I apparently have better hearing then you do.*
Shortly after their was a knock on the door. Then two. Then three. The fourth and final knock was followed by a man's raspy voice, "I know you're in there demon!"
Skittles silently cursed and motioned for everyone to get away from the door.
The voice decided to continue, "Oh dear Mister Skittles, I didn't want to do this, but there's such a huge bounty on your head I can't really resist temptation." With those last words the door swung open with Skittles behind it.
The "voice" was a very strange man who wore bright eye-burning colors, and sported dark skin and shining blonde hair. Sprite took a wild guess that he was a very skilled bounty hunter, since he had a generation sword or in other words a sword that was passed from generation of fighters to generation of fighters.
He briefly looked around before stepping in. "Well, I must have crushed the bounty behind the door again." Slowly and ever so careful he pulled back the door to reveal a very angry werewolf.
By this time the group of "innocent" bystanders had snuck over to the joined room, which they had deemed safe for now.
A Sprite leaned against farthest wall of the room with Martia at her feet, and the angecur on each side of her. While panting they listened to the crashing going on in the next room.
As quickly has it all started it stopped.
Martia cursed, a habit that she had picked up from Skittles, and looked up to Sprite, *Skittles didn't win!*
"WHAT?" Sprite hissed in a slight furry. She began to move towards the doorway, but was stopped by a frantic Martia.
*DON'T! The man would kill you if you went inside and stopped him. Skittles doesn't want any of us to get hurt, so he says stay in here!*
"No."
*What do you mean by that?*
"I'm not going to let him just...never mind." Sprite adjusted the collar to her shirt. She used to be the most powerful priestess in the land, and now what was she? A "dirty" priestess running from her very own order. Nothing else could possibly go wrong with her life... unless it ended.
***
Skittles woke up in a small pool of his own blood. Martia was looking up at him from his feet with a very worried expression. As he moved he caught sight of Fulmen who was digging through a stack of papers, where Taeda was he had no idea. When Skittles made an effort to speak the words failed to come out. How badly had that hero hurt him?
Martia said quietly, *You're pretty badly hurt, and Sprite was....*
Skittles began to pick himself off the ground, or at least he tried to, but his arms couldn't support his weight. Leaning against the wall he mentally cursed this little "hero." This jerk was going to pay.
Meanwhile Sprite had been drugged, and was abused in the kidnappers short care. This man, as you can tell, was not a man of many morals, but he some how managed to be a hero. This just proved that a book should never be judged by its cover. He sat on the bed besides the priestess polishing a sword. This would not be a very good day for Sprite.
As for the poor Skittles he had managed to stand up. Despite his bondmate's persistent pleas he went in search of Sprite. It wasn't long until he found the trail that lead straight to her.
***
Skittles looked at the dilapidated building with much doubt. Why hadn't the person killed him when he had had the chance? Was this all some sort of a game?
With a shrug Skittles entered the building only to come face to face to his competitor who was holding a knife to Sprite's throat. All seemed still in the few moments that followed. Nothing could have stopped the nightmare from happening.... Sprite would be on the floor bleeding no matter what.
No words could come from Skittles' lips. This awful man had just killed a friend, and stood there mocking him. Skittles drew his sword and whispered one simple word. The last word that would be heard by the bounty hunter Yana Delight.
"Unforgivable."
