Magic. Such an easy word to say. The Pictor and Hosanna make magic casting look quite simple, but it isn't for most.
More powerful magic can be used by only the most skilled of user OR someone who servers the elements/gods. Both statuses are not easy to achieve. Since magic is complicated, and said to be controlled by "the gods" few common people learn it fully. The system on which it is based on is rather simple.
The Magic of the Elements.
The magic of Fire, wind, water, earth, ice, steel, wood, dark, light, electricity, and time. These are the common sense magicks (with the exception of time.) Most of these spells are mastered by priests or specialized mages. Some of you may have noticed that Hosanna was a former priestess and is a master at water spells. Hosanna was born with the ability to control almost all forms of water, which is VERY rare even for a water spirit. That's why she was able to server at a temple of gods and use elemental powers. There is always an exception to the "servicing only one" rule.
Time is a magic mastered only by non-humans. This is an important magic, since it is used for travel. The Temples used for transport each have one special priestess or priest in charge that have mastered the flow of time. Since many places lack in willing priests, the time temple's pull "double duty." As you can imagine they have the ability to control time itself, so they can be two places at once. Time magic also has the ability to play around with the fabric of space, allowing someone to get from one place to another.
Elemental spells vary when it comes to incantations. It all depends on the element.
The Magic of the Gods
Also know as Holy magic, only virgins may use any of this magic. This is powerful in its own right, and has many variations of spells. From healing to attacks, this covers it all. The only thing is if the god followed is against a certain thing the person can not cast any spells that has to do with it. Take a person who follows the God of Peace, they cannot cast any spells that harm another person. Just like if someone followed the Goddess of War and Destruction the would not be able to cast a healing spell.
Incantations are not need for these spell, certain objects may be needed to cast the spells though.
General Non-Governed Magic
Magic that generally, isn't governed by the gods is far and few between. The Res have there own for of magic, alone with the above. Many other forms of magic have been created, but few a widely used. Each has it's own unique effects and status depending on the race. A few are listed below.
The Magic of the Res
Yes, Races do have there own type of magic. I choose to explain the Res' magic because of Pictor. This is magic talks about everything but there transformations. Res magic is learned solely from skill and discipline. There magic is capable of a large array of things, but is more commonly used for small household tricks. Such as Pictor's magical pockets. A Res can create magic that does serious damage to another living being, but it's not often used. Illusions with light, and so forth are also used for scare tactics in a fight.
Honestly, most Res don't enjoy hurting people.
The Magic of Vampires
Yes, some vampires have magic, and, No, Alexei can't turn into a bat. Now that we have that cleared up, Vampires have several different types of magic at there disposal. Mostly they use power of persuasion for there prey. There magic can vary in strength and normally depends on age. Meaning younger vampires have no idea what-so-ever when it comes to there magic. Transformation is part of their magic, but they cannot turn into full animals. So, dismiss all those myths about bats and such.
Ending this Thing
There isn't much else you can say about magic, since it gets rather redundant after a while. I hope this explained things in a little more depth then before.
