Back In Time

It was a quiet night, the best way to start a story. Not a single person was moving in the temple of  Caitzine and Adeana, not even mouse.

A priest of high power (and little faith) was sleeping soundly. He was pale in complexion, with light blue hair cut short. In the center of his forehead was a symbol he had from birth.

A gift he had received decided it was sick of the placid atmosphere.  A rather large green egg  with yellow spots rolled about on the floor. It came to a sudden upright position as it stopped at the end of the bed. Shattering the silence like a gun shot the egg split in half.

With cat like reflexes the priest jumped out of his bed and assumed a defense position. He was confused in his haze of sleep, until he looked at the foot of his bed. This was a move he would never forget.

Meanwhile, in the mountains a thousand miles away another man was experiencing the same ordeal. This was not a normal man mind you, he had something very special about him. This man was a third dog, a third cat and a third human. Though human predominated he still had some rather odd traits.

This man, Abishai, shot strait up as he heard a cracking sound. His sleepy eyes widened as he looked to the egg at the foot of his bed. A quick curse escaped his mouth as he slipped out of bed to grab someone who knew out this egg. As his feet hit the floor pieces of the green and yellow egg went sailing through the air.

In place of the egg was a little purple creature that looked much like a snake. He made a whining sound as it looked to Abishai for some form of welcome.

Abishai smiled, "Why Hello, you picked a wonderful day to hatch little one."

The Bishel wyrm looked at him with its big black eyes.

The priest of Caitzine and Adeana, called Levi, was staring at his own Bishel dragon. Who found it entertaining to stare at him with unblinking eyes.

Levi stopped at about foot away and made eye contact with the strange creature. He tilted his head to one side. It did the same. He blinked a few times, and it mimicked him each time. Levi choose to wave his hand, having no  hands the dragon waved its tail.

Picking up the wyrm careful Levi held it close to his body, "Well, I think I'll name you Emmanuel. I also think it's time for both of us to sleep."

The wyrm chirped happily, as Levi carefully made his way into bed. At least they had not disturbed the other priests, that would have ruined the perfect night.

This particular day was a day of celebration. The festival of Trinanellian, god of peace and healing. Even of Levi did not serve the god, it was an excuses to get off from work and, best of all, his friend would be coming to visit him.

Visiting was a difficult task, Levi lived on a remote mystical island on the coast, while Abishai lived in the mountains of a far away chain. There visits with each other became fewer each year, but this year was going to be different. They were going to head out on an adventure after their dragons had become shrapes.

Anyone--person or animal--who was born on this day was blessed with great privileges. Levi, the high priest was a perfect example for that. Born on the right day, with the right mark on his forehead and BOOM! he's a high priest. That's a matter to be discussed later.

It was morning as Levi strolled out of his room with a bag slung over his shoulder, and a cross in hand.

His bag, which contain Emmanuel, wiggled in protest. Ignoring this Levi waved to the only other male priest. With a smile on his face he made his way out to the temple to the streets of the town. The location of the temple was exactly in the center of the island, being a rather small island it didn't take too much effort to get to the center of the one, and only town located on it.

Levi took his time walking down the streets, but was being stared at the whole time. After a minute of this, he took the struggling wyrm from  its prison. Emmanuel chirped in surprise at the surroundings. Wild colors, brightly dressed people, dancing, music, it was a spectacular first sight. Levi wasn't all that surprised by hearing a voice in the back of his whining 'but the pretty colors!' He laughed at this, "Next year you can run around the festival. For now you get to stay with me."

*I don't like that idea.* Emmanuel spoke telepathically, this time making his speech clear.

"Sorry, we have to meet someone friends today," Levi continued to talk while he was walking, "Abishai Benesh and maybe his dragon."

Emmanuel was too busy looking at all the pretty things to listen.

"Did you hear a word I said, Emmanuel?"

*What? Did you say chicken?* the little wyrm looked up at his bondmate surprised by the use of his name at the end of a rather long sentence.

"No... just forget it."

*Already forgotten!*

This was going to be one trying friendship, thought Levi. He didn't have a chance to think for much longer, since they had arrived at the meeting spot. It was a small park with a few green trees. Nothing was really important about this spot, it just seemed like a present place to meet your friends. Speaking of friends, Abishai was sitting on the grass quite content.

With a smile Abishai urged his friend to come over and sit done. Levi, resisting the urge to tackle his best friend he sat carelessly besides him, "So where's your dragon?"

Abishai laughed, "He's right behind me, sometimes I wonder if you're blind as a bat!"

A small purple dragon slithered out from behind Abishai, but stuck close to his bondmate like the new visitors were going to eat him.

Emmanuel tilted his head to one side before making his way down to the other wyrm. They both looked at each other for a few moments before Emmanuel pounced the other little Bishel. *Hello!* was the first thing he said to his new found friend.

The Mountain Haze wyrm stared, *Um...*

*What's your name?*

*It's... Radzimierz,* said the wyrm in a faint voice.

*I'm Emmanuel! Let's be friends!*

*That sounds wonderful.*

*Yay! Lookie Levi I made a friend! Levi, what's so funny?*

Levi and Abishai were both choking back laughter, once they failed they flopped into the grass. They had gotten themselves in a situation they had never imagined. It was finally time for both of them to take responsibility for someone else.  Thankfully this was a task they were willing to take.
