Isthar's Family

In the time period Ishtar lives (around 4000AD, after several wars and a calendar change) it's generally acceptable to put up your child for private adoption if you have "too many" mouths to feed. Meaning, if you have four or five children you can give your child up for adoption. However, those families that are strapped for cash, and don't care about breaking the taboos  can sell their children for medical research in a no return policy. Most races, including humans, find this absolutely disgusting.

Ishtar's family really wanted a girl. Enough to break all of the taboos and sell him to The Organization for a few extra dollars. They continued to make babies after Ishtar was sold.

The Organization

A faceless group of individuals with fuzzy lines of "right" and "wrong." Due to a horrible collapse in security all the Chimera escaped as well as the other genetically engineered subjects. These subjects have slowly formed a resistance against the Organization and it's mysterious founders.

Ultimately the organization is a group that controls events in the backgrounds. They have influence over groups that had great power in the past and use four major contenders as their "front." The two people who actually run the organization have yet to be discovered. More often than not they are called "Master and Mistress."
